Celebrating Copernicus' 20th anniversary

ALTER, has played a crucial role in the success of the Copernicus missions.

This week marks the 20th anniversary of the signing of the manifesto that initiated Europe's Copernicus environmental program. With seven Sentinel satellites already in orbit, Copernicus is currently the world's biggest provider of Earth observation data, delivering terabytes of information every day.

The Copernicus mission is an Earth observation program of the European Union that provides precise and timely information to improve environmental management, understand and mitigate climate change impacts, and ensure civil security.

Our company, ALTER, has played a crucial role in the success of this initiative. We have been responsible for selecting, procuring, and testing advanced technologies for numerous companies involved in multiple Sentinel missions, including high priority ones such as CHIME, CIMR, CO2M, LSTM, CRYSTAL, and ROSE-L. These missions employ state-of-the-art Earth observation technologies and will provide essential information to protect the environment and citizens.
