Photonics is the science that studies the generation, detection and application of photons or particles of light. Photonics is the basis for electro-optical devices used for data acquisition, such as image sensors, for the communication of large volumes of data via fibre optics, for additive manufacturing and laser cutting, for visualisation via panels and displays, or for information storage.
Also a wide array of applications in our everyday life, ranging from lasers, optical fibers, and the cameras and displays found in our smartphones, to optical tweezers and the illumination systems in our cars, houses, computer monitors, and televisions.
We celebrate this day by highlighting all the projects we have in this field.
