ALTER hosts the ACCEDE I ESCCON conference: the convergence of Europe's leading events on electronic components for space

Organised by ALTER and the Spanish Space Agency, Seville will become the epicentre of discussions on electronic components for space applications from 25 to 27 March, with the joint celebration of ACCEDE (Assessment of Commercial Components Enabling Disruptive Space Electronics) and ESCCON (The European Space Components Conference). This event will mark a milestone in the sector by merging two of Europe's leading conferences dedicated to the use of EEE components in the space domain.

A key gathering for the European space industry

The union of ACCEDE and ESCCON in a single forum will combine the latest trends in the use and validation of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) components for space with advancements in the ESCC system framework. Universities, companies, and institutions will share knowledge and methodologies to use COTS components safely in various scenarios, addressing the needs of both "New Space" programmes—such as constellations and small satellites—and high-demand space missions.

High-level institutional opening

The conference will be inaugurated by key local and industry authorities, including the Mayor of Seville, José Luis Sanz; the Regional Minister for Industry, Energy and Mines, Jorge Paradela; the Director of the Spanish Space Agency, Juan Carlos Cortés; the Director of Quality at ESA, Britta Schade; and the CEO of ALTER, Luis Gómez. This opening ceremony will highlight the strategic importance of the aerospace industry and its impact on both the region and Europe.

ACCEDE: Ensuring the reliability of COTS in space

ACCEDE brings together experts from space agencies, operators, industry, and academia to analyse the challenges and solutions in adopting commercial components for the sector. Throughout the conference, studies, evaluations, and methodologies aimed at optimising the reliability of COTS components in complex space environments will be presented.

ESCCON: Innovation and standards in space electronics

Meanwhile, ESCCON will address advancements in key technologies such as photonics, advanced manufacturing and packaging, and wide bandgap power devices. Additionally, strategic topics such as European sovereignty in electronic components, standardisation, and the evolution of quality assurance policies in the space sector will be discussed.

This merging of events represents a unique opportunity for professionals in the sector, fostering knowledge exchange and collaboration within the European space industry. Seville is thus cementing its place as a key location in the aerospace agenda, hosting a forum where innovation and technological development will take centre stage.

Moreover, the event will feature an industrial exhibition where companies and organisations will showcase their latest innovations and technological solutions in the field of electronic components for space. A comprehensive cultural programme has also been prepared, allowing attendees to experience the historical and artistic richness of Seville.

The event has exceeded all expectations, reaching full capacity. Due to high demand, the organisers have been forced to close registration early.
