New acquisition

TÜV NORD GROUP acquires a majority stake in the semiconductor and electronics specialists HTV and HTV Conservation, based in Bensheim, Germany.

With this acquisition, the TÜV NORD GROUP and its semiconductor subsidiary ALTER TECHNOLOGY will extend its position as one of Europe’s main OSAT (Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test) companies providing automated semiconductor assembly, testing and chip programming services into new markets and technologies.

Dirk Stenkamp, Chairman of the Board of Management of TÜV NORD AG: "The acquisition is part of our group-wide innovation strategy in the high-technology sector. Semiconductors are the key to the advancing digitalisation of the world. More and more companies are having their semiconductor chips tested and processed by external, highly specialised companies. In addition to the international market presence of our subsidiary ALTER TECHNOLOGY, which has so far been particularly active in the high-growth aerospace industry, the market leader HTV is now giving us access to sectors such as automotive, industrial automation and medical technology. Customers throughout Europe and also worldwide will benefit from our portfolio expansion. In this way, we are making an active contribution to the resilience of the semiconductor industry and strengthening Europe as a semiconductor location."

The acquisition includes HTV Halbleiter Test Vertriebs-GmbH, which specialises in testing and programming semiconductor chips as well as sensors and optical components such as LEDs and HTV Conservation GmbH, which has developed an innovative procedure that stops the ageing process of microelectronic components. Semiconductor chips can thus be preserved functionally stable for up to 50 years.

Edbill Grote and Thilo Tröller, founders and managing directors of HTV and HTVC: "We are convinced that with TÜV NORD and ALTER TECHNOLOGY we are placing our life's work in good hands, which will continue our growth course and offer our employees excellent prospects for the future."

"We are delighted to welcome HTV and HTV Conservation to the TÜV NORD GROUP," said Luis Gómez, CEO of ALTER TECHNOLOGY, "this acquisition provides an opportunity to expand ALTER TECHNOLOGY's capabilities in high reliability microelectronic and opto-electronicstesting for the aviation and aerospace industries and to offer a much broader range of services. We look forward to working with the HTV and HTV Conservation teams and together we will be able to offer a wider range of semiconductor backend services to a wider range of high value markets."
