From our humble beginnings in 1986, ALTER TECHNOLOGY has grown through bold innovation, strategic expansion and global collaboration. Today, we stand as a united leader in electronics engineering, space-grade testing and semiconductor excellence worldwide.
ALTER TECHNOLOGY, part of the TÜV NORD GROUP, was built on the strengths of six pioneering European companies in engineering, procurement and testing of electronic components for space and other demanding environments.
Our journey began in 1986 with the creation of TECNOLOGICA in Madrid, the seed of today’s ALTER. By 1993, the headquarters moved to Seville, where growth accelerated. Over the years, we expanded through strategic acquisitions: HIREX Engineering in France (2001), IGG Components Technology in the UK (2006), and TOPREL in Italy (2007). With each step, our expertise deepened and our portfolio grew to include system-level testing, certification and advanced engineering services.
Integration into the TÜV NORD GROUP in 2011 marked a new chapter, reinforcing our leadership in aerospace and opening new opportunities for innovation. Subsequent milestones include the acquisition of OPTOCAP in 2016, the launch of our Photonics Design Centre in Scotland in 2021, and the expansion into semiconductors through HTV in Germany in 2023.
Along the way, ALTER has been recognised with awards for innovation, internationalisation and R&D excellence. In 2024, together with TÜVIT, we formed the Business Unit Digital & Semiconductor, strengthening our role as a global leader in technology for the future.
